Elegant antique French sterling silver 5pc liqueur service, a beautiful wheel cut decanter with four Empire style intaglio etched or engraved shot glasses, cups or cordials! A wonderful set to top off an evening with a few close friends; bring out your favorite liqueur and four near matching cups or cordials for serving. Here's just the perfect set! Slender and graceful, the decanter is collared and based in finest French sterling silver. The near-matching shot glasses or cordials with sterling base fittings and a fabulous intaglio etched or engraved Empire style pattern of scrolls and musical instruments. All bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they are in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are different, those on the decanter are for Gaston Bardies, Paris circa 1897-1914. The marks on the cups are mostly illegible so I've not been able to find reference for their maker. Elegant entertaining, or just display them on your side table or desktop - you never know when someone will walk in with a bottle of Champagne, and want you to add Cassis for a very French Kir Royal!
Very good condition. Possibly a tiny nip to two but no chips, cracks or damage to note. As noted, there is a hint of gold plating or 'vermeil' visible so they all may have originally had a gold finish but are around 95% silver now from years of polishing. The decanter and cups are not a perfect match but compliment each other wonderfully. See pictures for all measurements.
