Fabulous & rare antique French Napoleon III era blue opaline glass & gilt ormolu 7 1/4" tall scent or perfume bottle in the shape of a claret jug or ewer! I just love these old French opaline pieces, blue being a more rare color and this piece is definitely unique. The first I've seen in this 'ewer' style, the body is in thick blue opaline glass with the reticulated gilt ormolu casing the top with an attached scrolling handle and ornate ormolu base. The stopper is actually shaped like the gilded spout of the claret, the blue opaline glass under the spout serves as the actual stopper. A gorgeous piece and a wonderful addition to a fine collection of antique opaline 'egg' shaped caskets. Don't miss it!
Very good condition. Some wear to the gilding on the spout and handle, a bit elsewhere but no chips, cracks, damage or repairs to note. See pictures for all measurements.
