Absolutely gorgeous antique French Napoleon III era Sevres plaque in beautiful pierced or reticulated gilt bronze frame, a hand painted portrait miniature style rendition of Madame Lamballe, with raised gold enamel & Sevres blue surround and gilded mat! There are no markings on the back of the porcelain portrait plaque but we’re sure it’s a Sevres piece. Marvelous detail to the portrait and the raised gold & Sevres blue surrounding accentuate it beautifully! Madame Lamballe is Princess Marie-Louise Thérèse of Savoy-Carignan (8 September 1749 – 3 September 1792)/ She was a member of a cadet branch of the House of Savoy. She was married at the age of 17 to Louis Alexandre de Bourbon-Penthièvre, Prince de Lamballe, the heir to the greatest fortune in France. After her marriage, which lasted a year, she went to court and became the confidante of Queen Marie Antoinette. Madame Lamballe was killed in the massacres of September 1792 during the French Revolution.
Excellent condition. No damage, bending or loss of gilding to the frame, original pierced easel stand is intact also. No chips, cracks or damage to the porcelain plaque that I can see, no loss of paint or raised gold enamel. See pictures for measurements.
