Absolutely gorgeous antique French hallmarked sterling silver & cut glass 10.5" 30 oz. claret jug, beautifully ornate with rocaille accented base & scrolling handle, floral accented collar and that stunning spiral fluted thick cut glass body! These truly great old French sterling silver claret jugs are so hard to find at a reasonable price but here you go and we actually have two fabulous ones available at the moment! Rocaille encircling the silver base, the handle in the form of sinuous scrolls! The body is thick glass with a wheel cut spiral design. All of the separate silver parts bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they are in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Paul Canaux & Cie (Co.), Paris circa 1892-1911. A gorgeous piece in superb condition, don't miss it! Also be sure to take a look at the other exquisite claret jug we have available, in addition to a host of fine antique French sterling silver coffee, chocolate & tea pots. I'm currently working on a few more, including the pair of smaller claret jugs shown in the final group image on this listing so watch for them soon, too. Thanks!
Very good-excellent condition. Some signs of tarnish visible in the images, sorry :). No damage or repairs to note other than a dent at the very top of the handle. No chips that I can see to the glass and there are no cracks, sorry about the bit of lint you see inside the glass (it's from cleaning it out and we'll be sure to blow it all out before sending). See pictures for all measurements.
