Antique to Vintage French Opaline Table Service, Salad Bowl, 5 Serving or Finger Bowls
Just in from Paris. Iam unsure of the age of these, so will list with the designation antique to vintage. They might be 100 years old, might be only 30 years old. The set is fabulous, however, and a lovely addition to your table if you love the old French blue opalines. The larger bowl is typical size for salad in France, and it is rimmed with a fine bright more bronze metal to finish it nicely. The place bowls would be perfect used as salad or fruit service, of course, but also for dessert or as finger bowls in a more formal setting. You'll find the perfect use. The glass is thick and varies so the color also varies a bit. These are artisan mouth-blown glass and none of the 6 pieces has any chips or nips or cracks or hairlines. But I'm certain it would have been a larger set initially, probably 6 bowls. One might find a match, but these are what we have. The measurements are noted on the photos, but the larger fruit or salad serving bowl is 8" diameter at top and rises almost 4", against the smaller ones that are slightly different (mouth blown, remember) and are about 4" diameter and 1.75" high.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, as noted, variations in color are due to these having been individually mouth blown hand-created items and not mold-formed. The set includes 5 smaller bowls and one large matching salad or fruit bowl. Dore bronze or heavy brass rim is without dents or damage and shows beautifully at table.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
