Exquisite antique Napoleon III era French 18k gold on sterling silver (vermeil) 36pc dessert or luncheon sized flatware set, a complete 3pc table setting for twelve with ornate rocaille accented pattern, magnificent visual appeal and superb condition! Imagine, looking at the images of this set, that these pieces were made roughly 160 years ago!! Unbelievable given the near pristine state you see them in. Thick, heavy old French sterling silver, all with an 18k gold plating and as lustrous & elegant as can be. Not to mention the fact that it's a complete 3pc service for twelve including knives! All pieces bear the French Mercure or Mercury hallmark which means they were made for export. The silversmith marks are for Etienne-Henri Sanoner, Paris circa 1852-1868. A truly glorious set, smaller than the normal dinner pieces but large enough to be used for both luncheon and dessert settings. As fine as can be AND we have another complete 36pc set in the same pattern available, just in case you're looking for a 3pc setting for 24. Exquisite, don't miss them.
Very good-excellent condition. Truly excellent when you take their 160 or so years into consideration. They appear as if stored and never used with only a slight bit of wear to the vermeil on some raised areas. The sterling silver knife blades are all original and free of any bends or damage. The knife handles are filled, of course, not solid sterling silver but the entire 36pc set has a total weight of 61 troy ounces or 1896 grams. A gorgeous set! See pictures for individual weights and measurements.
