Occupational sealing wax seals (sceau) are quite rare. Sure, you see crests now and then, or perhaps a crown or figures, a dog (I have 2) but this is the only one I've ever seen that has an array of engraved farm tools, rake, shovel, furrow plow, scythe, and that wheeled thing. What fun. Burin engraved by hand, of course, this would have been the official seal for an important agriculturalist. Someone who was overseer to a large estate, and perhaps if you do some research, you'll find more about him. The name is there, though I'm unsure if it is Wurr or Wuir. Perhaps in wax, it's clearer. Measurements are noted on the seal. The matrix is a nice larger one.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Lather turned wood or "treen" handle is unbroken, no losses. Sturdy mount to the seal, too. Wonderful to collect or to use!
