Rare & massive antique American brilliant cut crystal & sterling silver 5.5" tall 'paperweight' style inkwell, over 5 lbs weight with stunning Art Nouveau style floral engraved decoration on all sides, star or sunburst pattern wheel cut in the base and huge, bulbous sterling silver top with ornate interlaced "GB"(?) monogram! OVER five pounds of beauty here, amazing you'll understand the rare nature of the size if you're a collector. Not only does it have the size though but all sides are beautifully adorned with flowers and sinuous tendrils etched, engraved or wheel cut deeply into the body. The collar is marked with only "Sterling 568" so it's surely American and hails from the American Brilliant Cut era. An exceptional piece, in size, intricate and ornate decoration, skill and condition! It's also one of several fantastic antique sterling & crystal or glass inkwells that we're adding this week and in the coming weeks so browse some while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good condition. There is some scratching to the base, possibly a tiny nip or two to the body but no larger chips or cracks to note. The sterling lid has a bit of 'rippling' around the tapered area below the bulbous top and there may have been an old professional silver solder to the hinge area (shown in pics). Closes completely though. Gorgeous! See pictures for all measurements.
