Absolutely gorgeous & Rare antique French ODIOT sterling silver 40oz tea pot & creamer pair with ornate floral & foliate decoration, interlaced “LH” monograms, 18k gold ‘vermeil’ interior on the creamer and both in fabulous condition! This set just in from France and wow, I mean WOW! As stunning as can be and the condition is that of a pair on display in the Napoleon III apartments in the Louvre. Both oversized pieces the tea pot is an immense 12” long from handle to spout and weighs 28.8 troy oz. or 895 grams. Both pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number “1” within those marks means they’re in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for “sterling” silver). The small silversmith marks, diamond shaped with an “O” and oil lamp designate Maison Odiot.
Odiot, as we know, is a world renowned silversmith, maker to royalty and known for the finest of the fine (see our added info image for more information on the long and highly lauded history of the House of Odiot). We have a total of around fourteen picture groupings of the set but are only allowed nine images total here so, if you’d like the rest, just email and we’ll send along.
A magnificent pair here, highly rare in beauty, condition and maker, don't miss them!
Very good to excellent condition. There are a few faint dimples but no larger dents, damage or repairs that I can see. The interior of the creamer remains as beautifully gold as when it was made likely and there is just the tiniest of wobbles in the creamer handle at the heat spacers. Truly remarkable. See pictures for all individual weights and measurements.
