Fine antique French .800 (nearly sterling) silver 2" napkin ring, 95% pure silver with elegant Louis XVI or Empire style pattern of floral garland & laurel accents, raised medallion sans monogram and fabulous condition! Marked with the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the shape and tiny number "2" with in that mark means it's in .800 or better silver (80% pure so just under the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark is illegible so I've not been able to find reference or narrow down the date of manufacture.
We’ve amassed well over 100 great old mostly French sterling napkin rings over the years and I’m working on them now. They're great mixed & matched around your table, wonderful to find a set of twelve or more matching pieces but who could be so lucky. And, isn't it much neater if all are unique, each with a history...a story of its own! We have rococo style napkin rings, guilloche style machined or engraved napkin rings, French Empire style napkin rings, personalized napkin rings with the original owners’ names on them… Just a massive array of styles and aesthetically unbeatable! Browse and enjoy, they’re all so lovely and sure to add to your fine dining experience (and that of your guests, too)!
Very good condition. Some surface discolorations and scuffing possible and it's recently been polished to a high shine. No monogram but it appears that there are scratches in that area. See pictures for measurements.
