Gorgeous antique French sterling silver 4pc baptism, christening or breakfast set including tumbler, napkin ring, fork & spoon with ornate raised or applied medallions and "Marcel" inscription or dedications! Often given as baptism or christening gifts, this one with luncheon sized flatware and all pieces beautifully engraved "Marcel". All pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and so higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks on the cup & napkin ring are for Henri Soufflot, Paris circa 1884-1910, those on the fork & spoon are for Alphonse Debain, Paris circa 1883-1911. A collaboration between the two silversmith houses...? Perhaps two separate gifts to the same recipient, more likely as only the fork & spoon remain in their original storage and/or presentation box. A lovely set, is there a Marcel out there?
Good to very good condition. There is some dimpling to the tumbler, mostly visible in the images. Some light surface scuffing possible, age and use related. See pictures for all weights and measurements.
