Gorgeous antique Victorian era c. 1850-90 hand carved 24" tall wall mirror, a beautiful piece with ornate vines & flowers, acanthus accented corners, fruit filled cornucopias and a lovely figural bust, all framing the original overly thick beveled mirror! Isn't this one fabulous! The quality of the carving, the bust and combination of the figural bust, acanthus, vines & flowers make this one so very French in decorator appeal, yet we are unsure if it's French-carved or Black Forest carved. The aesthetic would say French. Hand carved in heavy solid old European walnut, it's quite heavy at right around 7 lbs and the thick beveled mirror is as near perfect as one could hope for. Wonderful visual & decorative appeal, don't miss this one!
Very good to excellent condition. I see nothing to the mirror other than a few tiny black specks, no loss or bubbling to the silvering there and no chips or cracks. The carved frame is also in wonderful condition with just the faint line where the two wide panels are joined visible from the front (just to the right of the figural bust). There is also a faint crack there and it may have been re-glued at some point but takes nothing from the piece. Marvelous! See pictures for measurements.
