I've bought lots of these over the years, and most of them we've sold again. I've put a few to use in our homes, and love the look of custom cabinets they allow us, but on a budget.

Heavy old forest growth wood, they are 12.75" high x 2.75" wide" x 15" deep front to back: a pair of griffen/gryphons in Gothic Revival style.

They are a stunning pair of old 19th century French carved neo-Classical or Renaissance revival supports with such character. They would have been parts of a large furniture piece like a hutch or big bar cabinet, and would have supported the upper half. Photos tell all. If there's a chip, I haven't yet located it so look closely. You can see they each have a split at a construction wood seam which has opened a bit with shrinkage of the old wood. It's a separation but it is not a break. Fabulous for accent supports for existing cabinets or to build into a shelf you're building at home. Fun in a Country French or Victorian kitchen or den. Actually, it would even look great in any setting where fine architectural salvage pieces might add to the warmth and aesthetic, even modern. This panel dates 19th century, c. 1830-80s.

Very good to excellent condition, I see no chips at all, but as mentioned, there is a separation on each where original boards were joined and the old wood has shrunken and opened that seam. One might wish to remove it and fill holes, but I rather like it with the hardware still on. The carving on this pair is wonderful!
