I've bought lots of these over the years, and most of them we've sold again. I've got a few now that I'm going to use. My plan is to build them into cabinetry renovation in kitchen, and also to have a 4" depth box frame backing made for one that can be wall-mounted as a cabinet in bathroom, mirror back and lined with glass shelves, to use as as upscale medicine cabinet. Might recess the cabinet part into the wall instead. You'll surely come up with great decorator ideas of your own. But in fact, these hang on a wall beautifully just as the fine art and sculpture they are.

Heavy old forest growth wood, 15" tall , the base is 4.5" square. and a carving depth of about 6" x 7" square" in full sculptural relief: a pair of persons, sentry or servants in a neo-renaissance style of dress.

The two figures you see are old 19th century French carved neo-Classical or Renaissance revival cabinetry supports salvaged from a large china cabinet or library furniture item. We've seen furniture with them still in place, and they normally brace the upper half of a drop-back cabinet. They're wonderful to use as candle stands now, with large candles up top. Some people make them into lamps and that's a fun idea, too. You might want to use them to support the upper set of cabinets in your kitchen, or to add a shelf board to top and bottom and have it worked to the length and use you'd like in any room. Done that way, these make up into a fabulous plate display and you can go as long as the space you have, up to 6 or even 8 feet width and it looks amazing - very custom. All you need are the shelf boards and some hanging brackets. Easy project with these wonderful figures. Photos tell all. If there's a chip, I haven't yet located it so look closely. You can see slight split at a construction wood seam, but it is not a break. Fabulous for a wall ornament in a Country French kitchen or den, too, if you want to just hang them and put a small square shelf on top of each one. Actually, it would even look great in any setting where fine architectural salvage pieces might add to the warmth and aesthetic, even modern. This pair of figures dates 19th century, c. 1830-80s.

Very good to excellent condition, I see no chips at all, no cracks. Not even a chip to their pointy-toes - really superb, these 2. The carving on this set is truly magnificent! A personal favorite.
