Antique English Victorian cabinet plate or cake plate, unique ruffled ribbon cutaway border and lovely hand painted butterfly in gold cartouche. The registration mark on back tells us the plate dates April 12, 1883. Alas, three is no maker mark otherwise on back so we aren't sure if it was Minton or Coalport, or Copeland, or whom. I'm not an expert in these old plate forms so if you are and you recognize the form and maker, will you please email us? Thanks in advance.
Very good condition without any chips or cracks, no hairlines. Lovely old thing, the glaze on the backside is crazed as you can see, but the top side of the plate has tight crazing as well, on the white portion, but not at all on the overlay of brilliant hot pink, which remains lovely. Shows very well. The plate has a rich gold gadrooned border inside the cutaways of the pink border ribbon, and additional hand painted accents in gold. Butterfly center is hand painted. The plate is 9" in diameter.
