Okay, photographing a piece like this is like trying to adequately take pictures of a mirror :). The surface as mirror like as possible, highly polished with a smooth, shiny luster. Thick & heavy, the piece weighs 36.5 troy ounces or 1134 grams! Great size for a dinner entree, a roast of some sort surrounded by colorful steamed vegetables...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The tray bears the post 1878 French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within that mark means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). There is the tiny diamond or lozenge shaped silversmith mark but it has been polished or worn down to be completely illegible. My guess would be that it dates from the early to mid 1900s though. Easily integrated into an existing fine sterling silver table service, enjoy!
Very good to excellent condition. Some light surface marks to the center oval but no major scratches and there are no dents or dimples that I can find. See pictures for all measurements
