Fine antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved desk or table top thermometer stand, a beautifully detailed piece with game bird style figure, oak leaves & acorns, foliate accented base and original thermometer mounted on milk glass panel with enamel markings! A lovely piece and in great shape, with just a slight nod to the hairline crack in the top end of the milk glass panel. The stand itself is carved from one solid block of wood, painstakingly sculpted down to the realistic and highly detailed work you see here. A fabulous decorative accent!
Very good condition. One chip to the oak leaf on the right side (around 20 degrees celsius), and the topknot feathers of the bird has been chipped off (see images). As noted above, there is a hairline crack/break to the upper end of the milk glass panel. The carving stands 10 1/8" tall and is 5 1/8" at its widest. The base is 4 5/8" x 2 3/4" and the milk glass panel is 6" tall, 1 1/8" wide.
