A most stunning set here (or demi-parure) of Victorian jewellery of the finest quality. Made in 18k yellow gold that holds a perfectly polished roundel of jet upon which is a beautiful 18k mounted pearl, sized small enough to be considered seed pearls, yet of a very fine color, nacre, and reflective quality - almost of a quality you'd expect in Mikimoto or similar pearls today. The set appears to have never been used at all. I suspect it is a gentleman's mourning set, with round tie pin or lapel pin and the other two largish studs may well have been made to use as cufflinks. Or perhaps it's meant for use by a lady after all, in the early Edwardian era, and the studs served as cufflinks for her 'waist' or shirt as we call them today. I'm sorely tempted to have those two made into earrings, actually, and to wear these with my pearls, the brooch as a pendant or enhancer for the pearls, tying it to these studs made over into earrings. Can you just see it!
Very good to excellent condition, and still housed in the original old Victorian domed presentation case, itself a fine and valuable antique, and all in excellent condition. The jewellery is truly pristine. There isn't a flaw to note, or to take into consideration in our price or your enjoyment, either one.
