Delightful 1873 marked antique Minton majolica pottery 40oz pitcher or jug with pewter hinged lid, attractive cobalt blue base & yellow quatrefoil decoration and whimsical Bacchus or mascaron style figural spout! A lovely decorative piece but perfect for use also. Rich, vibrant colors with a high gloss and fabulous condition. The base has the impressed or stamped Mintons markings with the date mark for 1873. There's also an underglaze marking, possibly the actual potter's or maker's mark? In any event, a lovely piece here with undeniable visual appeal!
Very good condition. No chips or cracks that I can see. The thumb lever on the pewter lid originally had a figure extending upward but it obviously broke off an the break polished down. See pictures for all measurements.
