Elegant Vintage French sterling silver 39pc dessert, luncheon or entremet sized flatware set, a 3pc setting for TEN with two large serving pieces, gorgeous winged SWAN figural pattern and 15.5" fitted black leatherette storage box or chest! Not quite a complete service for twelve but enough pieces to accommodate ten and you also get the matching larger serving pieces to boot! The 3pc table setting consists of ten each in 7 1/8" forks & spoons and ten ebony handled knives with "G" engraved sterling silver shield shaped inlays. There are also seven smaller teaspoons. We've had this pattern before and they always seem to sell quickly but my point is that one could likely find matching singles on the web to complete the set if you wanted to. A beautiful pattern, elegant long-necked swan figures on each side of the handle, wings extending up the stem of the handle...aren't they spectacular! All bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure silver and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Henri Lapeyre, Paris circa 1920s. A truly beautiful set, don't miss it!
Very good condition. As noted, there are a few pieces missing from a perfect 12/12/12/12 set. Some slight surface scuffs to the flatware, indicative of light use over the past nearly 100 years. The knives and chest are not original to the set, the knives are actually a bit older, antique pieces, and worth quite a bit on their own really. The steel (pre-stainless so there is a bit of age tarnish/corrosion) blades on the knives are marked "Talmon". The chest is in fine condition, the flatware fits perfectly and the set would likely have originally come in a similar box. Only the salad pieces do not fit perfectly into the space at the rear. See pictures for all weights and measurements.
