We've bought up a collection of antique sealing wax seals, used throughout Europe through 'til about 1870s or so, and we'll be listing them separately.
This one is a fine Empire Revival fine French silver seal handle in .800/1000 pure silver (note the tiny boar's head mark which is the guarantee of .800/1000 silver. Seal is nearly 3" tall and heavy in the hand. The matrix is deeply engraved with a scripted G W or WG (perhaps interpreted also as C W or W C) monogram. One can have the matrix added to if that is not your monogram and you wanted to actually use this seal. Most just love collecting them.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, no dents, no losses and a superb casting in .800/1000 silver, French in origin. Dates mid-1800s to as late as 1870.
If this item includes any CITES Appendix I materials, all state and federal documentation and certificates required by law for commercial sale, import or export, have been obtained for it. Proper legal paperwork will be included with it at shipment.
