Sharing a goblet of wine, part of many marriage ceremonies, this would have been used to seal the pairing of some 19th century couple, likely in France and in a Catholic ceremony. The extra large bowl of the goblet makes it one you'll enjoy using as a flower vase, too, and I'm tempted to cut down a bouquet of roses for this one this next week, and put it to use as centerpiece at dinner. But you might enjoy it as a wedding gift, a ceremony enhancer for your own wedding, or just as the fine example of 19th century French opaline it truly is. Measurements are noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent condition without any chips or cracks or hairlines and really not even loss to the applied gold enamel work that decorates it and rims the lip and base so beautifully. A fine semi-translucent work of glass maker's art. Sized up for use as the traditional wedding goblet for bride and groom to share, or to use also as a vase for one of those wonderful little French bouquets.
