Fabulous antique French Napoleon III era writer's wax seal or sceau with ornate sterling silver seal tip, "H.G.C." monogram and wheel cut banded agate handle! Gorgeous, isn't it! Once a staple for the desk or writing table top, these were used with melted wax to seal and/or sign letters, packages, etc.. Elegant, you rarely find this practice still in use but definitely remember it when you do! Why not add that extra special touch to your correspondences, you'll captivate the recipient's attention even before the first word is read! Wheel cut banded agate, heavy, solid and as visually appealing as can be. The French boar's head hallmark on the silver tip, designating at least .800 silver content and all in wonderful condition. Great for use, great as a special gift!
Very good-excellent condition. One tiny nip to the agate handle (on an edge of the flared top of the handle). See pictures for measurements.
