We can't seem to keep this type of chignon pick/comb or hair ornament in inventory, and each time we get one, it's gone before we know it. I'm sure it will be the same for this beautiful old natural shell & brass pique one, too. Circa 1840-70, Napoleon III era - These are all so beautiful! It makes me even more envious of those of you who have long thick tresses to twist and turn up and hold in place with one or two of our elegant anitque picks. . . but, alas, it is not meant for me.
Very good to excellent condition, just as you see it. These always have a few of the tiny brass (maybe gold - we didn't test) pins or pique missing, but in this one I count only 10 or 12 tiny dots gone and nearly went blind trying to find those. A charming piece, well preserved and without any damage to the old tortoise shell. Generations of use left in it!
