Gorgeous antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era PAIR of PUIFORCAT hallmarked sterling silver full sized chocolate, coffee or tea cup & saucers, a 4pc set with ornate guilloche style machined or engraved foliate garland decoration and wonderful condition! A cup & saucer pair here, meaning there are two cups and two saucers in this set, perfect for an intimate evening tea or coffee in the morning to get your day started :). Both beautifully ornate, Louis XVI or Empire style bands with laurel garland and acanthus leaves. Overly large, overly thick, heavy and as stunning as can be! All pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in at least .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are, of course, for the House of Puiforcat, one of the most sought after makers and long lauded for only the finest of fine. Now owned by Hermes of Paris, also a notable name in French opulence. A divine service for two, don't miss them! Rare to find the larger oversized pieces, especially a service for two.
Very good to excellent condition. A very slight push to the rim of one saucer but I'll likely be able to get it to perfect round before sending out. There is also a tiny dimple on one cup. Each cup holds right about twelve fluid ounces (with roughly a 1/4" space between the contents and rim of the cup). All four pieces have a total weight of 592 grams or 19 troy ounces! See pictures for individual weights and measurements.
