Fabulous vintage French Empire style 5pc desk set including inkwell, stationery or letter stand, blotter, pocket watch display holder & pen tray with highly gilded bronze ormolu framework & glass insets with delicate lace panels! Okay, so this set likely dates to around 1900-1930 or so but isn't it lovely! French Empire pieces always seem to fly out as soon as we find them and this is a complete 5pc matching ensemble and sure to go quickly. Unique with the lace panels mounted in each piece, they're sandwiched between two glass panels and form the bases of the inkwell platform, pen or quill tray and pocket watch display, also the top of the ink blotter and front & rear panels of the stationery stand. Empire themed accents including the laurel wreath & ribbon on the blotter and ornate pierced or reticulated finial on the letter stand. The inkwell itself in what looks like pressed glass with an octagonal shape and shiny brass top with a child or cherub like figure. Wonderful, a perfect set to adorn the top of your desk or writing table. Fabulous decorative accents and as lovely as can be!
Very good condition. No damage that I can see to any of the pieces, no chips or cracks to any of the glass panels and, while there is a bit of age darkening to the lace, none have any notable damage such as rips, tears or fraying. The inkwell even has the inner glass ink pot. Fabulous! See pictures for all individual measurements.
