Elegant antique French Louis Philippe I era 12pc sterling silver 10" dinner sized knife set, elegant Louis XVI style scrolled foliage & tendril patterned handles with original steel blades and all in wonderful condition! One of two knife sets that we're listing this week, the other a complete matching 24pc set by the world renowned House of Puiforcat. Ornate foliate repousse patterned handles here with interlaced monograms, they appear to be "PB" or possibly "FB". All with the original pre-stainless steel blades so they do have a bit of age tarnish but that just adds character, history. The tops of the handles bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and so higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Pierre Queille, Paris circa 1834-1846. All as elegant as can be and perfect to add-on or complete a fine sterling silver table service!
Very good condition! Some slight scuffing possible and perhaps a tiny dimple or two to the silver handles but no dents or repairs to note. As noted, the blades are pre-stainless steel and do have some visible age tarnish and or faint corrosion marks as is common in the old steel pieces. See pictures for measurements.
