Absolutely gorgeous & rare 27pc set of antique French sterling silver flatware, a 2pc place setting for SIX with twelve teaspoons, 13" ladle, sugar tongs & sifting ladle with beautifully intricate ornate raised floral pattern, interlaced "CP" or "PC" monograms and all in superb condition! Simply stunning! All as beautifully French as can be. I've tried to find a name for the pattern but the closest I come to it is referenced as Louis XV style, definitely rococo with the unique shape to the handles, rocaille and foliate (& floral) accents. The set consists of six each in the larger dinner sized forks & spoons, twelve teaspoons with "CB" or "BC" monograms but matching pattern, soup ladle (CP monogram), sugar tongs (CB monogram) and sugar sifting ladle (CP monogram). All pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks on all are for Cailar & Bayard, Paris circa 1912. A truly magnificent set for your smaller, more intimate gatherings or, keep an eye out for matching pieces to bolster the setting. Guaranteed to impress!! Exquisite, don't miss them!
Very good to excellent condition. Some faint surface marks here & there but no breaks, damage or repairs to note. All are as near pristine as can be! As noted above, the monograms on the teaspoons are different but all patterns match. The chest is not original but of a similar age and the pieces, except for the sugar tongs & sifting ladle, fit fine (and there's room to grow since it holds 12 each in the larger forks & spoons). See pictures for individual weights and measurements.
