A spectacular pair of c.1848 drawing portraits, a gentleman and his wife. The information that came along with these was simply that they were a "notable" family from the region of Berry, France. The signature of the artist is on each drawing, and I'm unsure if I'm accurately noting it as Brossard or if it might be Brossaye

Frames are each 15.5" x 12" and .5" thick overall. We've shown the backing which tells us they've been opened and resealed at some point. The drawings showing in an aperture that is 13.5" x 10". Wood frames. You are buying the pair, husband and wife.

Very good condition throughout, no tears or holes, just those brownish spots notable as flaw. Drawings are done in pencil, graphite, charcoal and conte or chalk. Beautifully done, the post of the gentleman is particularly appealing. Each drawing is on paper, and you can see that there is some age showing on each in form of dark dots that I'm not quite able to explain other than to just show them to you. Something with the paper. Each protected under glass and with burled maple, I think, as the wood in the frames. Very appealing pair!

Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time.
