A beautiful 19th century French double aperture frame with dore bronze outer work and appliqué, as well. The frame stands with its original easel stand and is the c.1860 style. We think that works for the date on this old one. This is one of my favorite type of frames to use for my own family's photos, and I group a bunch of them together of varying sizes on a mantle nearest where I sit most. I can see them right now and the frames are worthy of the wonderful people (my family) whose photos fill them. Love the look!
Very good condition for age and type. Back lining is the old original woven fabric, and the easel stand and glass and all appliqué remain with the frame. Lovely shape. The old wood is pretty but isn't quite as pretty as some we've had. That said, I suspect this might have once had a covering of moire silk that has been removed. Nothing but the slightly different grain to the wood would make me think it. Still, it displays just beautifully and is a truly lovely old treasure of a frame. The apertures have the old glass, ready to use your photos. Measurements are noted directly on our photos so please confirm it there.
