I purchased this gorgeous late 1700s to early 1800s pendant in France, and it's obvious that it went through French control (required by auction houses) because there is a French 18k gold mark (French eagle's profile mark, used after 1838). The pendant is older than the mark, represents jewelry that our research tells us it is a Normande or Normany regional jewelry piece originally. We have another of these that is set with diamonds, but the stones in this one do not test as diamonds and so are something similar called a "diamond of Alencon", or natural stones from a certain area, valued highly. They are smokey quartz, as it turns out. The setting is, as noted, 18k solid gold. Please view all photos to see size and condition.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
