This is a 2nd Empire Baccarat jewelry casket, getting more and more rare to find, and it's in excellent condition throughout. From the Empire Revival era of France's Emperor Napoleon III (Louis Napoleon, nephew of Bonaparte), when the neoclassical designs were again favored highly and reinstalled in the finer homes, decor. Baccarat in particular created these fine functional pieces, and they're "signature" without a signature owing to the quality and design. This is not a signed Baccarat item, but we guarantee you will learn with research that it is authentic 19th century Baccarat. Musical instruments in high bas relief on top and cascades of garlands, raised on cabriole feet, it remains a stunning piece of decorative arts, fine for use or display.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. No chips nor cracks, no hairlines. Fine old Baccarat crystal with deep facet cuts on bottom to capture more light and brilliance to the base of the casket, and the most delicate yet solid strong dore bronze casement and fitted hinged top - very elegant. Clean and high gold more bronze patina, ready for use. The casket is 4" diameter and 4" tall when closed. The hinge and hinged clasp both intact and working perfectly. No damage to note.
