Set of 10 soup plates by Royal Doulton, England Made for retail by Davis Collamore Co, Ltd, 5th Ave & 48th St., NYC Date code: August 1916 HB9780 E 9952
A stunning set of 10 fine raised gold enamel plates, hand decorated by artisans at Royal Doulton factory, England, for retail at the fine goods purveyor Davis Collamore & Co., LTD., in their store at Fifth Avenue and 48th Street, NYC, New York, USA. The opulence of the Belle Epoch is evident in this set, and this type os raised gold enamel plates would cost between $500 - $3000 a single plate if they were made today, so a fabulous bargain to be had in the antique sets. This is a rather rare set of soup plates. As you can see in our final image, you can put together various patterns that compliment one another and set the most stunning mix-match table ever.
Very good to excellent, no utensil marks, no real evidence of use, though I'm sure if you take a magnifying glass to them you might find a rub here or there on the raised gold enamel. The set is just stunning and fine. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines to report. The plates are 9" in diameter, the bowl depth is about 1.25" overall.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
