Haviland & Co, Limoges France, date mark for 1888-1896 production
Set of 9 hand painted dessert or salad plates (8.5" diameters)
A beautifully hand painted set, each one different and all original paintings, produced in late 1800s by the finest Limoges, France, porcelain factory, Haviland & Cie (Company). While there are just 9 plates remaining from a larger original set, they are all just gorgeous. Gold enamel trim and a variety of pastel colors, various flower stems. They look a lot like wild flowers, but are garden stems, blossoms.
Very good to excellent (8). One does have a chip, visible in our images, but we wanted to leave it in the set (9th plate). Otherwise no hairlines, no other chips or cracks. No surface crazing nor utensil marks noted, though it seems likely there might be a little of that in a set that is 130 or so years old. The gold decorated rims are slightly rubbed here or there (not much), and truly they are as nice a condition as you'd ever get on antique cabinet or dining plates. Service for 8 and a spare.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
