Very fine & rare 1770-1810 antique Georgian era rosewood veneered 14" flatware, cutlery or knife box with beautiful serpentine shaping, marquetry inlaid interior and the complete original inner fittings! Some slight signs of its age but not nearly what you'd expect with the passage of the past 200 or so years!! The inside fittings are still intact, also rare, and are all round for the very old sets of knives and forks. Many old silver sets will fit these holes. These are simply exceptional display boxes! I've priced this one low just for fun so, don't miss it!! We have a 2nd one of these also listed for sale separately. It's very much like this one but has a bit of parquet work on the inner lid. In case you want two for your dining room buffet as we see in so many fine decorator magazines. I love the look!
Very good condition, age considered. There is some veneer chipping to the upper edge of the back panel and a visible veneer split with small chips on the sloped or canted lid. The front has an inlaid cartouche but there is no lock on the box, whether that's its original state or a restoration of some sort I am not sure. See pictures for all measurements.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
