I found these 2 carvings in Paris last Autumn, fell in love with the figures. These are probably 1700s, but they are mounted on 1800s lathe-turned plinths. They used to be a part of a carved wall-mounted alter in a church. You can see the mounting peg on back (or perhaps it was to mount wings that no longer attend the kneeling angels). They were originally polychromed and you can see a bit of the old base paint still clinging to the recesses. Very charming. They're carved by the same artisan, and compliment but do not exactly mirror one another, making them all the more wonderful. You are buying 2 figures, as shown, and tallest is a touch under 12" tall and the base is 3" in diameter on each one.
Very good to excellent condition, with obvious age. I can see it that each one of these figures has an old restoration to an arm, but it's clean, nicely done. Wonderful display carvings and such charming faces. Measurements noted on photos and above.
