Set of 12 Minton dinner plates, 10.25" (10 3/8 but my photographer missed it) diameters. H3022 mark on back, and 1916 date mark
Tice & Gates was a Rochester, NY purveyor of fine china and glasswares, crystal in the 19th to earliest 20th century. They have their retailer underglaze mark, added by Minton in production, noting the set you see here was made by special order for the store. This was typical in the Belle Epoch's new-found industrial wealth; this naming of everything, "exclusive", "excess" and "extravagant" were adjectives of the day. It was a time of The Great Gatsby, and every meal was an event to attend. So some of the most wonderful old porcelain and china, crystal and glasswares come to us from that era. As does this set. The date mark impressed on back is the flour de lys, though my photographer neglected to capture that one mark. They're 100 years old this year. A stunning set of 12 dinner plates with raised jewel dots of Celeste or "Sevres" blue against a colorful but gentile decorative border that has hand painted florals in the cartouches, a cobalt accent and thick old gold trim, rim.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. I find not a single flaw to note apart from a minuscule utensil mark. Obviously have been stored or displayed and not used. Thick gold rim is lux, and the delicately hand decorated border will go from simple casual to elegant with a lovely overplate and your fine French sterling silver flatware (you can also get that from us, just look - sold separately). Fabulous set!
