This is a fine early 1800s French snuff box for ladies, more feminine in design than most and with a fine pique work of gold, silver and various shell insets to create a floral bouquet and urn. The casket is amber, or a cast of casein with amber added, mimics blond tortoise shell but it is definitely faux. This casein product was a very early resin-like product made primarily from the proteins from milk and with added powders of amber or other materials to give it color and volume. Note the fine condition and the elegant engraved work on the urn. A very fine c.1810-30 item in fine condition.
Very good to excellent condition, we find no lifts or loss, and only perhaps a single very very tiny rim nip to keep it from being pristine. Photos have measurements.
