Subject: "Comtesse Du Chastel de la Howardries nee (born) Marie Claire de Croix" The family is known to be one of the 40 oldest Belgian families, title dating since 1300s Oil portrait on thick solid board, unframed. 29" x 24" and .75" thick.
The earliest mention of the family of this woman dates back to 1300s., and a quick research tells me it is a landed an titled Belgian family. This painting is likely mid-1800s and a marriage portrait (note the dual cachet crest painted directly on the oval board which serves as canvas. This is a large panel, unframed as you see it, fabulous and suitable to hang without frame. Or you might wish to have this one framed, it's a superb old portrait. The panel measures 29" x 24" and .75" thick, (73cm x 60.5cm.).
Very good to excellent condition throughout, with no damage to speak of to the oil painting nor to the thick solid board onto which it has been painted. We think it is a mid-1800s painting, but it might be earlier. Ready to be framed or to hang as you see her.
