A fine 19th century oil painting on panel, c. 1820-40, showing a lovely young woman in green velvet gown with lace collar and a fashionable Louis-Philippe era hairdo. The painting is unsigned, but is beautifully accomplished. Framed in the original early 19th century frame which is of the famed Ecole (school of) Fontainebleau. You can evaluate both in our many images.
Very good condition for age and type. A lovely painting for wall or shelf, there are typical old oil painting crazing lines to be considered, and the frame shows its age in a few imperfections, worst among them being a section of missing plaster appliqué visible to lower right . We've cast and restored such spots and it's really quite simple to do with mold making kits from a crafts shop, but we'll leave it to the desire and discretion (and time investment) of her next owner. Measurements noted on photos: Outer frame is 16" x 13" and is a full 2" deep.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
