Magnificent & rare antique Victorian to early Edwardian era genuine alligator 15" vanity or travel case, a Gladstone style bag with gilt embossed monogram, "Dalmuinzie - Aberdeen" marking and fabulous condition! Of Scottish origins, judging from the inscription on the lock. I've tried searching the names and come up with an area of opulent, historical homes in northern UK. The bag itself is in superb condition, not a single tear in the genuine alligator skin, no separated seams and no repairs or restorations that I can see! The interior is fitted to hold a variety of vanity implements, brushes, jars, cologne or perfume bottles and is lined in a deep green moire silk (or similar fabric). There are currently no contents but that just leaves you to fit it out with your own personal travel necessities. The top has two sides that open completely to make accessing the contents as easy as possible. The handle is strong enough for use so, go ahead and spoil yourself! A marvelous accessory and/or decorative piece!
Very good condition. As noted, there are no inner items, the bag has the original lining and fittings but has been separated from its original contents. The exterior is in superb shape given its age, etc. and has no tears, no seam separations and no restorations that I can see. There is some wear to the gilt embossed monogram. The clasp, etc. works great but it's missing the key. See pictures for all measurements.
