Fine antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 13.5" wall plaque, Fruits of the Hunt motif with long horned Ibex or mountain goat figure, hunting rifle & powder horn, spill or match holding hunting satchel and wonderful decorative appeal! A few flaws to note, a chipped area at the very top point and some visible worm or bug holes but, overall, it's a truly fine older piece! The plaque and figural grouping are separate, attached with wood pegs and glue. The grouping has been carved from one solid piece of wood, just imagine the care and expertise it would take to transform that blank section of wood into such an intricate and detailed sculpture! Great lodge or ski cabin decorative accents but, of course, why not keep them a little closer to home so you can enjoy them every day! Great for matches in the kitchen or near the fireplace!
Good-very good condition. As noted, there is a chip to the very top point, the front fore leg of the goat figure has also been chipped off. There are also visible worm or bug holes but nothing active. See pictures for measurements.
