An exceptionally fine carving, this Swiss "Black Forest" work of artisan's sculpture will please you. It's not big, but it shows beautifully along with your (or my) other "Fruits of the Hunt" themed carvings. Here shown with a few we also have for sale, separately, you'll want a wall full. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, there is not a single chip nor hairline nor flaw to this superb old one. Dating around c.1880s, it is solid hardwood, and the work of an Animalier Master. Shows very very well. Extends full-bust into the room, deep at 3" and the backing plaque is 7.5" tall and 6.5" wide. We've had similar plaques not as masterfully carved, and often people like these to use as drapery tiebacks. But this one is such a fine carving, I think it's definitely one for the wall. Have a look.
