Gorgeous antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era PAIR of sterling silver full sized chocolate, coffee or tea cup & saucer set, 4pcs with ornate guilloche style machined or engraved decoration, 14-18k gold 'vermeil' lined bowls and interlaced "AB" or "BA" monograms! A cup & saucer pair here, meaning there are two cups and two saucers in this set, perfect for an intimate evening tea or coffee in the morning to get your day started :). Both beautifully ornate, completely covered in a guilloche style textured decoration, "belt" framed medallions with monograms and then there are those lovely sinuous handles. Overly large, overly thick and heavy and as stunning as can be! All pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in at least .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Francois Nicoud, Paris circa 1875-1880. A divine service for two, don't miss them! Rare to find the larger oversized pieces, especially a service for two.
Very good to excellent condition. A very slight push to the rim of one saucer but I'll likely be able to get it to perfect round before sending out. A slight but of wear to the vermeil around the inside of the rims possible. Each cup holds right about eight fluid ounces (with roughly a 1/4" space between the contents and rim of the cup). All four pieces have a total weight of 609 grams or 19.6 troy ounces! See pictures for weights and measurements.
