Elegant antique French sterling silver 5 3/8" tall wine goblet or chalice with ornate machined or engraved guilloche style decoration, bow topped laurel medallion with "LR" monogram and in wonderful condition. As you know, we've been trying to get our massive inventory of antique French sterling napkin rings online, including some wine or mint julep tumblers and here's another fabulous treasure. A single but why not spoil yourself or someone you love? Perfect, too, if your initials happen to be "LR". It bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within that mark means it's in .950 silver (95% pure so just a bit higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). I don't see any silversmith marks so it may be a custom work (sometimes only marked with the required Minerve) or perhaps I'm just missing it in the ornate engraved decoration. In any event, a wonderful piece here!
Very good to excellent condition. I see one small dimple on the right side though it's so faint you really need to look hard. Possibly a tiny dimple to the base though it stands straight with not a hint of a wobble. No other flaws or repairs to note. See pictures for weight and measurements.
