Fabulous antique French .800 (nearly sterling) silver 1 7/8" napkin ring, 80% pure silver with ornate machined or engraved decoration including star & foliate accents and interlaced “GG" monogram! This one bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark but the shape and tiny number “2" designating it as being in .800 or better silver content (at least 80% pure so just under the the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark is visible but illegible so I’ve not been able to find definitive reference to a maker or more specific date of manufacture.
