Elegant antique French sterling silver 1 7/8" napkin ring, 95% pure silver with Louis XVI or rococo style spiraled pattern in bas relief, thick & heavy at 40 grams and in fabulous condition! This one bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, 1st quality for .950 silver content (the tiny number "1" within the mark designating 95% pure silver and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark is visible but only partially legible so I’ve not been able to find reference, it appears to be "? & G” surrounding a dog or lamb figure. One of two near matching rococo style napkin rings that we’re adding today, among a host of other fabulous treasures so, be sure to browse some while you’re with us. Thanks!
We’ve amassed well over 100 great old mostly French sterling napkin rings over the years and I’m working on them now. They're great mixed & matched around your table, wonderful to find a set of twelve or more matching pieces but who could be so lucky. And, isn't it much neater if all are unique, each with a history...a story of its own! We have rococo style napkin rings, guilloche style machined or engraved napkin rings, French Empire style napkin rings, personalized napkin rings with the original owners’ names on them… Just a massive array of styles and aesthetically unbeatable! Browse and enjoy, they’re all so lovely and sure to add to your fine dining experience (and that of your guests, too)!
Very good condition. This one weighs a bulky 40 grams, built to last, great condition as you can see from the images. Faint surface scuffing and tarnish in the deep recessed areas but no dents, damage or repairs to note. See pictures for measurements.
