Wonderful vintage set of twelve Wedgwood 9.5” dinner sized plate set in their “Wellesley” pattern in pale blue & white with cameo style medallions of fruit & foliage and ringed bordering all in raised bas relief and all in fine, usable condition! A set our Ashely found this past week down in La Jolla, she’s starting to get a bit more interested in the business and has several pieces of fine antique jewelry that we need to photograph and list for her. Much better than most high school part-time jobs :). Here we have a lovely set of twelve dinner sized plates, the “Wellesley” pattern somewhat prolific as far as I can tell but this set is unique in its pale blue addition over the raised decoration. The underglaze stamps on the bottoms all read “Wellesley, Wedgwood, Made in England” and also “U.S.A. Patent No. 93217”. I looked up the US patent and it was filed in 1934 by John Edward Goodwin, a small photo of it is shown in the images. Wonderful and priced to move so don’t miss them!
Very good condition. Some crazing to the clear coat as you might expect with an older set of plates but no chips, cracks or damage to note. A wonderful, cheerful set for use and/or cabinet display!
