A spectacular gift idea, still perfectly preserved in its mid-1800s leather-clad case, box, etui, this matched pair of goblet and spoon are for the service of a boiled egg. Imagine how special these jewel-like sets were in their time, to have a lovely old presentation case perfectly fitted to present them. It might have been a baby gift (coddled egg being an early solid food for 19th century babies), but it's certainly suitable for you and for your most opulently set breakfast tray now. What? No servants, no breakfast trays? Well, then to display with your other wonderful sterling silver collections. The measurements are noted in the photo.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. There is only one imperfection to note. The pushbutton button closure does work but it's missing the outer button. Rick was trying to replace it but hadn't yet found one to fit (they simply screw into a fitting). The clasp works as it is, and we'll list as it is and continue to try to locate a salvage push-button to mount. The silver pieces are excellent throughout. The interior of the egg cup has a brilliant 18k gold layer (vermeil) that remains excellent. It would appear it's been treasured rather than used. What a joy to find such items.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
