I recently bought 4 paintings from an estate in France, all obviously by the same artist and framed in early to mid-1800s frames in the manner of the Fontainebleau School, heavy wood with opulently gilded gesso appliqué. I am unable to find a signature on any of them. I'm going to list all 4 as separate offerings. The oil painting is done on a panel rather than stretched linen canvas, and has survived in very fine form. Great intimate small paintings for shelf or wall, beautifully framed.
This offering is for the resting work horse, chicken and duck or goose - a lovely farmyard scene. You are buying only the painting featured in this listing. c.1830-60 French painting, in the manner of the Fontainebleau School, naturalist but with a slightly Impressionist feel to it. Superb and ready to hang and enjoy. The size of this painting makes it one you might even consider for a doll's house, as the largest of the group of paintings from this un-named artist. This one is 13.75" x 11.75" outer frame, and painting is just 8.75" x 6.5". Age evident on the frame, but both frame and painting remain in very good to excellent condition for age and type.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
